If you want to live close to the city but still have that country feel, then Diggers Rest is for you. Its a great place to live with not much passing traffic so is very quiet at night.
You can walk down the street and feel perfectly safe. As the area is relatively flat, it is great for walking the dogs or just for a casual stroll. The nearest shopping centre in Sunbury is about 10 minutes away with easy access now that the road into Sunbury has been widened and is now complete.
Watergardens Shopping Centre is also not very far away. There are a couple of local shops such as milk bar and fish and chip shop and there is talk of a shopping centre in Diggers Rest to be built some time in the future which would no doubt boost property prices. The train line is to be upgraded to the Metro system rather than V-Line so there will be more frequent trains operating. There is also a regular bus service.
