Yes WoW Classic is sorta an exception but not really since its a re-release with modern changes. In other words, downgrade, play on another Mac, play on Windows, or even play on Linux with wine. For mostly everything you wanna do — If you got a Mac, you are Fucked.. So how do these work? They appear to be already installed client files without the necessary registry edits in your own system, of course.
How are these used? I recommend at least 1GB of ram for tilesets, and there are reports of instability due to RAM exhaustion when certain tilesets are used. The larger the size of the individual tiles, the more RAM is used. Graphical builds run much faster with some kind of graphics acceleration. The Linux and OSX builds are available in both terminal and graphical flavors. There is a very old and unsupported fork for iOS.
